Our inaugural guest scientist is Professor Kathy Sykes from Bristol University.  Known as the “Wonderwoman of Science” Professor Sykes is presenter of UK TV science programmes Rough Science and Alternative Medicine: The Evidence.   She regularly volunteers to go to the hottest places on earth to undertake brain-frazzling scientific challenges with limited equipment and unreasonable time limits.  A vivacious and bright personality, Kathy is devoted to engaging the public and demystifying science.

Kathy is in New Zealand with the support of the British Council.  She is the keynote speaker at Running Hot, a conference on the future of New Zealand science organised by the Oxygen Group in conjunction with the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology.
